£2m Boost for Offshore Wind

Monday 2 September 2024
The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership has unveiled an exciting £2 million support initiative tailored for the UK’s thriving offshore wind sector.
Known as the Manufacturing Facility Support Programme (MFSP), this groundbreaking venture is specifically designed to address the manufacturing needs and priorities of the offshore wind industry in the UK.
Through the MFSP, UK businesses are offered invaluable assistance in establishing new manufacturing facilities or expanding their existing ones on a significant scale.
This innovative programme provides a funding match of up to £500,000 through a meticulous two-stage application process. Such financial support aims to expedite and mitigate risks associated with the initial (pre-investment) developmental activities crucial for attracting capital investments in manufacturing facilities.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the MFSP, Iain Sinclair, Executive Director at the esteemed Global Energy Group and Non-Executive Director of OWGP, remarked, “This new programme will deliver specialised support to forward-thinking UK manufacturing firms, equipping them with the essential resources needed to enhance or establish additional production capacity, concentrating on locally-sourced equipment and systems.”
“Building and enhancing these resources is paramount to expediting the deployment of offshore wind projects in the UK, thereby aiding us in achieving our ambitious target of 60GW by 2030,” Sinclair added with unwavering confidence.
He further noted, “The MFSP programme signifies a significant stride towards our overarching goal of enhancing productivity, boosting business competitiveness, fostering innovation, and fortifying a globally competitive offshore wind supply chain within the UK.”
The much-anticipated stage one of the application window is scheduled to conclude on the 20th of September, 2024, urging interested parties to act swiftly to avail this unparalleled opportunity.
