Golf club opposes nearby housing plans!

A golf club objects to plans for nearby housing development
A golf club has raised concerns about plans for a new housing development on land formerly occupied by the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC). Persimmon Homes aims to build 333 homes on this site, a move that has been provisionally approved by city planners.
However, the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, which borders the proposed development area, has voiced objections to the project. The golf club’s primary concern revolves around the potential risks of individuals getting injured by errant golf balls from their course.
The club’s objection highlighted the heightened danger posed by having public spaces and residential properties situated near the golf course. They fear that individuals not on the course may inadvertently become targets for golf balls, leading to potential accidents and injuries.
In response to these concerns, Persimmon has assured that they are committed to creating a “high-quality residential development” on the AECC site. Their plans include the construction of 88 affordable homes, demonstrating a commitment to addressing housing needs in the area.
Moreover, Persimmon has pledged to invest £35.8 million in the development, with projected annual tax revenues of nearly £500,000 for Aberdeen City Council. This investment promises not only new housing opportunities but also economic benefits for the local community.
