New Glasgow student flats plan brought forward for feedback.

Members of the public have been given a new opportunity to share their opinions on revised proposals for a new Purpose-Built Student Accommodation-led mixed-use development in the heart of Glasgow. The student accommodation developer, Valeo Management Europe, known for the Liv Student brand, is initiating a second round of consultations for their project to bring around 500 new student beds to Carrick Street, Broomielaw.
The primary goal of this project is to rejuvenate the current brownfield site, which currently houses the empty GAP Group headquarters, into a vibrant community hub. Alongside student accommodation, the development includes a flexible commercial unit designed to cater to the needs of the evolving community in Broomielaw. Additionally, the proposal includes preserving and integrating the modern Glasgow City Mission building, which was previously earmarked for demolition in earlier development plans for the site, ensuring the charity’s ongoing presence at the location.
The public can review the proposals on Tuesday 10 September, from 3pm to 7pm at Box Hub, Axiom Building (50 Washington Street, Glasgow, G3 8AZ). This event follows the initial public consultation that took place on Tuesday 18 June.
David Saunders, the managing director of Valeo Management Europe, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to unveil plans for new purpose-built student accommodation in Glasgow City Centre. The transformation of Broomielaw and the broader River Clyde Waterfront is significant, and we believe our plans will contribute to this evolution while also addressing the pressing need for student accommodation in Glasgow.
“We are eager to engage with local residents and other concerned parties in the coming months as we develop our innovative new vision for Carrick Street.”
