Cupra to Launch Tavascan Electric Crossover with Two Power Options

Cupra is making waves in the electric vehicle market with the UK debut of the Tavascan crossover. This new addition to the brand’s lineup is the third standalone model, joining the Formentor and Born. It is also the second fully electric model and the first all-electric SUV-coupé in the Cupra range. The Tavascan, inspired by the 2019 concept car, promises to deliver an “emotional and driving orientated SUV” with a striking design that features sporty proportions and the iconic Cupra styling, including the distinctive three-triangle eye signature headlamps and “shark nose” design elements.

Competing with models from within the VW Group like the Volkswagen ID.5 and Škoda Enyaq Coupé, as well as external competitors such as the Tesla Model Y and Nissan Ariya, the Tavascan is priced starting from £47,340. The lineup offers a choice of four trims: V1, V2, VZ1, and VZ2.

Buyers can choose between two power outputs. The entry-level model boasts a single motor producing 286hp and is equipped with a 77kWh battery that allows for a WLTP range of approximately 352 miles. With a 0-62mph acceleration time of 6.8 seconds, this version is available in V1 or V2 trims, with the latter priced at £53,835.

The top-of-the-line 340hp model features the same battery but comes with a dual-motor setup for all-wheel drive capability. It accelerates from 0-62mph in just 5.5 seconds and is priced starting at £55,935 for the VZ1 variant, climbing to £60,835 for the VZ2 version.

Charging the Tavascan is swift and convenient, with the battery able to be charged at up to 11kW via an AC charging system or 135kW using a DC rapid charger.

Marcus Gossen, director of SEAT and Cupra UK, expressed his excitement about the Tavascan’s launch in the UK, stating: “The Tavascan marks the next step in the Cupra electrification journey, and we’re thrilled to introduce it to UK roads from 11 September this year.”
