Caffè Nero Takes a Green Leap with Octopus Energy Partnership

Caffè Nero, the beloved coffee chain, has taken a monumental step towards sustainability by partnering with Octopus Energy to power 100% of their stores with green electricity. This eco-conscious move has seen over 630 Caffè Nero outlets across the UK switch to Octopus Energy’s ‘Electric Match’ tariff, ensuring their energy is sourced solely from renewable sources.

The Caffè Nero Group’s commitment to environmental responsibility is further solidified by the decision to source their energy from three prominent British solar and wind farms located in Yorkshire, Wales, and Lincolnshire. This strategic move not only reduces their carbon footprint but also supports local renewable energy projects.

An added bonus for Caffè Nero comes in the form of potential cost savings, with Octopus estimating that their ‘Electric Match’ tariff could cut the coffee chain’s annual electricity bills by up to 17%. This financial benefit is a welcome reward for their commitment to sustainability.

Moreover, by establishing a direct link to British green energy sites, Caffè Nero will enhance their Scope 2 reporting. This means that their green energy supply will be traceable and time-matched, providing a transparent and accountable process for monitoring their environmental impact.
