Yorkhill Quay development approved for 1,100 homes

A picturesque low carbon community brimming with promise, featuring 1,100 new homes, a lavish hotel, leisure facilities, and sprawling public open spaces, has ingeniously secured full planning consent at Yorkhill Quay.
Glasgow Waters, an illustrious project that received initial approval in 2022, is set to undergo a remarkable transformation at the hands of waterside regeneration specialists Peel Waters. The redundant brownfield site is slated to evolve into a dynamic waterfront neighbourhood, seamlessly linking the bustling west end of Glasgow to the city centre, thereby enhancing connectivity for neighbouring communities.
Within the endorsed development plans lie 1,100 state-of-the-art homes catering to the open market, build-to-rent, and co-living sectors, complemented by a luxurious 200-bedroom hotel, commercial establishments, and 2,500 square metres of prime land earmarked for leisure pursuits.
Introducing the brand-new ‘Yorkhill Quay’ neighbourhood within Peel’s expansive Glasgow Waters district, where iconic landmarks like the Clydeside Distillery and the Riverside Museum already stand tall. The addition of walkways and cycle paths along a picturesque waterfront promenade stretching across Yorkhill Quay is a thoughtful gesture towards linking communities in Partick and Finnieston, as well as the riverfront connecting celebrated tourist hotspots.
Designed to maximise its waterfront location, a series of ‘River Rooms’ and south-facing terraces boasting captivating views of the historic River Clyde are poised to enhance public engagement with nature, offering serene outdoor spaces for recreation, exploration, and well-being activities.
The burgeoning community at Glasgow Waters will be spoilt for choice with waterfront retail outlets and leisure amenities lining the development, providing ample space for socialising and commercial prospects for businesses, both established and up-and-coming.
Brian Lavalette, the esteemed property director for Scotland at Peel Waters, expressed his elation at the successful planning consent, stating, “It’s gratifying to witness the green light for this outstanding sustainable development at Glasgow Waters.
“Glasgow Waters stands as one of the most ambitious regeneration projects in Scotland, with Yorkhill Quay poised to emerge as a significant landmark development, offering much-needed residences, enhanced connectivity, infrastructure upgrades, and a promising avenue for job creation within our community.
“We eagerly anticipate collaborating with top-tier developers and specialists to metamorphose this derelict brownfield site into a lively waterfront community boasting a vibrant community life.”
Glasgow Waters forms a pivotal segment of Peel Waters, an illustrious UK-wide portfolio brimming with vibrant and avant-garde waterfront projects that foster large-scale, sustainable regeneration, fostering economic growth, employment opportunities, residential expanses, and striking public spaces stretching across the nation.
