Sidey boosts Muirhouse tenants with £1.5m windows and doors.

Tenants of Muirhouse Housing Association in Edinburgh are in for a treat as they are set to benefit from a £1.5 million makeover, courtesy of new doors and windows. This significant boost for their homes will not only enhance their living spaces but also contribute to the Association’s commitment to providing top-quality accommodation.
The project has already kicked off, with plans to revamp approximately 185 homes and common stairwells over the next five years. The installation of new windows and doors from reputable manufacturer and installer Sidey will not only improve the aesthetics of the properties but also enhance their thermal efficiency.
Susan Bell, the chief executive of Muirhouse, expressed her excitement about the improvement programme, stating, “We are thrilled to be embarking on this doors and windows enhancement journey that will span the next five years. This initiative underscores our dedication to investing in the comfort and well-being of our tenants.”
Glenn Rivers, Muirhouse’s asset manager, highlighted the installation of high-specification triple-glazed windows as a key feature that will significantly boost the energy efficiency of the homes. The initial phase of the project, valued at £300,000, has already commenced, marking the largest-ever commitment to improving Muirhouse’s housing stock.
As part of the contract, a ‘Community Benefits Commitment’ has been included to support local organisations and projects aimed at enriching the community. This holistic approach reflects the ethos of Sidey, a trusted player in Scotland’s social housing sector known for delivering value, quality, and exceptional customer service.
Sidey’s rigorous quality management systems and ‘Total Waste Recycling Strategy’ ensure that all waste generated during the project is recycled, amounting to an estimated 11 tons per year through the Muirhouse contract. Stuart Holligan, Sidey’s business development manager, expressed his enthusiasm about partnering with Muirhouse on this transformative project.
He stated, “Sidey is proud to collaborate with Muirhouse Housing Association in enhancing its housing stock for tenants. Our focus on supplying and installing high-quality, energy-efficient products aligns with our commitment to positively impact the lives of Muirhouse tenants. We look forward to delivering various community benefits as part of this project, underscoring our core values at Sidey.”
