>New Flats Approved at East Kilbride Church Site

Plans to develop 24 apartments for social rent at a former church in East Kilbride have been approved, marking a significant step towards providing affordable housing in the area.

The proposal, put forward by Crawford Architectural and Rosewood Homes, received the green light from South Lanarkshire Council. The development is set to take place on the site of the vacant United Reformed Church and car park at 100 Carnegie Hill.

The four-storey building will feature 24 apartments, catering to the growing need for social housing in the community. Additionally, a 315sq/m rooftop garden will be a unique and eco-friendly addition to the development, providing residents with a green space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Recognising the importance of sustainable transportation, the plan also includes the provision of 26 parking spaces to accommodate residents’ vehicles and promote eco-friendly commuting options such as cycling and public transport.

This development not only addresses the need for affordable housing in East Kilbride but also promotes sustainable living through the inclusion of green spaces and eco-friendly transportation options. It reflects a forward-thinking approach towards urban development and sets a positive example for future projects in the area.
