Paisley apartments plan finally approved after 5-year delay

After a long wait of five years, Renfrewshire Council has finally given the green light to plans for the construction of 31 flats in Paisley. Stanley Homes, based in Renfrew, in partnership with Robert Potter & Partners, will be developing three four-storey blocks of accommodation, with two of them featuring an additional level housing a penthouse.

The initial proposal was submitted to Renfrewshire Council in December 2019 and has faced various concerns and objections along the way. However, despite receiving 16 representations highlighting issues such as privacy, road safety, increased traffic, potential property damage, noise pollution, and impact on wildlife, the planners have addressed these concerns in their report and granted planning permission for the development.

As part of the approval, the planning authority has attached 11 conditions to ensure the project’s compliance with regulations. One such requirement is the performance of a road safety audit three months after the occupation of the last flat. Additionally, a bird hazard management plan must be submitted and approved by the council before any construction can commence.

The management plan is crucial for the safe operation of Glasgow Airport, as it aims to minimize the potential risks posed by birds attracted to the roofs of the buildings. This condition highlights the importance of ensuring that the development does not pose a threat to aviation safety.
