South Lanarkshire Trust offers anti-poverty funding.

The South Lanarkshire Charitable Trust is opening its doors for local community organisations and groups to apply for funding in the ongoing financial year. Established by the council in 2019, the trust aims to prevent or alleviate poverty within South Lanarkshire through various sub-funds dedicated to specific areas.

The total amount available for distribution from each of the trust’s sub-funds in 2024/25 is as follows:

  • East Kilbride Area sub fund – £1000
  • Cambuslang and Rutherglen Area sub fund – £1000
  • Clydesdale Area sub fund – £2898
  • Leadhills Area sub fund – £6587
  • Hamilton Area sub fund – £7139

Applications will be reviewed based on their individual merits, and while the amount requested may not always be granted in full, the trust aims to distribute funds across as many deserving groups as possible.

Eligible groups must be non-profit-making, based in South Lanarkshire, possess an adopted constitution or set of rules, maintain a bank or building society account in the organisation’s name, and keep audited or income and expenditure accounts. Applications will not be entertained from profit-making groups, individuals, organizations supporting political objectives, Sunday schools, churches, or groups that solely aim to benefit members financially.

The funding is earmarked for community-focused initiatives rather than religious activities. Interested groups can request application forms via email and must submit completed forms by 30 September 2024 to The South Lanarkshire Charitable Trust, Finance Services, Floor 4 Council Offices, Almada Street, Hamilton, ML3 0AA. Electronic submissions via email are also accepted.
