New CEO imminent!
Exciting News at Nottingham City Council!
Great news for the residents of Nottingham as the City Council gears up to welcome its new Chief Executive next week. Sajeeda Rose, the current Corporate Director for Growth and City Development, has been recommended for the prestigious role. With a proven track record in areas such as planning, transport, economic development, property, major regeneration, and housing, Rose is all set to lead the council to new heights.
This appointment comes after the departure of the previous Chief Executive, Mel Barrett, who moved on to take up a leadership position at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing in May. Rose, who was instrumental in the formation of the East Midlands Combined County Authority, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Rose commented, “Nottingham is a great city that I have had the privilege to work in before. I am delighted to be chosen as the council’s new Chief Executive. Our city is brimming with opportunities, and it is crucial for us to capitalise on this potential and chart a new course towards the advancements we aspire to achieve.
“My primary focus is on ensuring that the council delivers top-notch services within our means for our residents and collaborates closely with Nottingham’s communities and partners to shape the long-term vision for our city. I acknowledge the scale of the challenges ahead and the pivotal role of the Chief Executive in spearheading the necessary rapid and significant improvements within our organisation. However, I am confident in our collective ability to work together and deliver the enhancements that the people of Nottingham rightfully deserve.”
The recommendation for Rose’s appointment was part of a report published last week after an extensive recruitment process. The formal confirmation of her appointment is set to take place at the council’s meeting on Monday, 5th August.
Council Leader, Cllr Neghat Khan, also expressed her approval of Rose’s appointment, stating, “Sajeeda brings a wealth of experience in driving change and transformation within councils and other organisations in the East Midlands. Her leadership in transitioning housing management services back into the council and spearheading the redevelopment of Broad Marsh showcase her capabilities. As the former Chief Executive of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, she played a crucial role in securing and implementing investments to boost the regional economy, highlighting her strong track record of performance and delivery.
“While our council faces significant challenges, I am confident that Sajeeda’s knowledge, expertise, and experience will guide us as we continue on our journey of improvement.”
Exciting times lie ahead for Nottingham City Council under the leadership of Sajeeda Rose. Let us all look forward to the positive changes and developments she will bring to the city. Image credits: iStock and Nottingham City Council.
