Top awards for North Lanarkshire housing projects.

Exciting news from North Lanarkshire Council as two new build projects and the dedicated team behind their success have been shortlisted for the prestigious Inside Housing Awards. These awards aim to honour outstanding projects and teams in the housing sector across the UK.

The first project in the spotlight is the Dykehead Road development in Airdrie, nominated for the Best Regeneration Project award. This project involves the demolition of existing structures to make way for 150 new, modern homes. Notably, this development features the council’s first Net Zero homes, showcasing a commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

On the other hand, the Castlehill Road project in Wishaw, specifically Phase 1, has secured a place in the Best Healthy Homes Development category. This initiative is part of the Gowkthrapple Regeneration Masterplan and focuses on replacing tower blocks with low-rise, energy-efficient homes. Furthermore, the project includes the construction of bungalows tailored to meet the needs of elderly residents, highlighting a thoughtful approach to community living.

Recognising the hard work and dedication of the team behind these housing projects, North Lanarkshire Council’s development team has also been shortlisted for the Best Development Team award. This team is known for its innovative and sustainable housing solutions, consistently meeting targets and delivering high-quality homes to the community.

Housing convener, Councillor Michael McPake, expressed his delight at the national recognition these projects are receiving, stating, “It’s pleasing that our ambitious housing plans to regenerate our towns and communities, boost the local economy and improve the lives of our tenants and residents are being recognised nationally. I wish the team every success when the award winners are announced in September.”

The efforts put into these projects go beyond just constructing new homes. They aim to create vibrant communities, boost employment opportunities, and provide sustainable, affordable housing options for residents. With a focus on modern design standards and energy efficiency, these developments not only enhance the quality of life for residents but also contribute to the local economy.

Through a variety of delivery methods and a commitment to innovation, the development team has made significant progress towards achieving their target of 5,000 new homes by 2035. Their dedication to delivering high-quality, sustainable housing solutions is evident in the completion of 1,463 new build homes and the successful delivery of 335 new affordable homes in the last year.

As we eagerly await the announcement of the award winners in September, it’s clear that North Lanarkshire Council’s housing projects are setting a benchmark for excellence in the industry. These initiatives not only provide much-needed housing but also demonstrate a commitment to sustainability, community development, and innovation in the housing sector.
