New Cumnock: Survey to assess housing demand.

Survey to determine housing need and demand in New Cumnock

East Ayrshire Council is set to conduct a comprehensive housing need and demand survey in New Cumnock throughout August. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the housing circumstances and requirements of local residents, ultimately improving Housing Services in the area.

The task of gathering insights from a diverse range of people has been entrusted to the independent company Research Resource. They will be conducting interviews with local residents, selecting properties randomly for the survey. If chosen, an interviewer will visit the resident’s home to conduct a brief 30-minute interview.

To make participation even more convenient, the Research Resource team will be hosting a drop-in event at New Cumnock town hall on Tuesday 6th August from 10am to 2pm. Residents can choose to complete the survey in person with an interviewer at this event, or alternatively, they can opt for the online survey option.

Councillor Jim McMahon, the spokesperson for Housing, Transport, and Communities, expressed his strong belief in the council’s house building programme and the significance of providing suitable housing for all communities. He proposed the housing need and demand survey at a full council meeting, receiving unanimous support from all elected members.

Councillor McMahon stated, “I am delighted that the survey is commencing soon. The insights gathered will play a crucial role in shaping decisions regarding the house building programme at the upcoming cabinet meeting later this year. I urge the New Cumnock community to spare a few minutes to share their perspectives. Rest assured, the survey is completely anonymous, and individual feedback will not be disclosed to the council.”
