Social Bite cafes to partner with UK universities and colleges.

Homelessness charity Social Bite is embarking on a groundbreaking venture into the UK education sector through a unique partnership with Matthew Algie, a renowned coffee supplier. Starting from the 2024/25 academic year, new Social Bite cafes will grace universities and colleges nationwide, with 10% of coffee sales proceeds being channelled to support the charity’s mission to eradicate homelessness.
These freshly branded Social Bite cafes will exclusively offer Matthew Algie’s Elevator blend, carefully chosen for this collaboration, ensuring that each cup purchased contributes towards assisting individuals experiencing homelessness. Moreover, Social Bite’s Pay It Forward scheme will be integrated within these establishments.
Excitement is already brewing as Matthew Algie engages in discussions with multiple institutions eager to host the inaugural Social Bite cafe on their premises. The grand reveal is slated for the 2024 TUCO Summer Conference at the University of Exeter from July 29-31.
Recognising the strategic importance of establishing a presence within the UK educational landscape, especially in universities bustling with socially conscious students, Social Bite is eager to make an impactful difference. Mel Swan, the commercial director at Social Bite, emphasised how this collaboration with Matthew Algie can extend a helping hand to homeless students, guiding them towards a fresh start by equipping them with vital support and skills.
Swan expressed, “This partnership with Matthew Algie will not only raise awareness about homelessness issues but also accelerate our efforts to assist those affected by providing meals, job opportunities, and safe shelter. By joining forces with a well-established name like Matthew Algie, we are poised to make a significant impact.”
Raj Juneja, the head of education at Matthew Algie, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the profound impact each cup of Elevator coffee sold can have on individuals experiencing homelessness. The aim is to expand the Social Bite brand within the extensive network of cafes across the UK education system, amplifying awareness among a crucial demographic while bolstering support for the charity’s cause.
Matthew Algie, a trusted supplier within the TUCO ranking, stands as a leading provider of coffee, equipment, and training to educational institutions across the UK and Ireland. Their commitment to supporting Social Bite in their mission to combat homelessness underscores the significance of this partnership.
As the collaboration between Social Bite and Matthew Algie takes shape, the prospect of leveraging a simple cup of coffee to drive positive change and alleviate homelessness is a compelling narrative.
