Clyde Valley Housing teams up with Dolly Parton for literacy initiative

Clyde Valley Housing Association (CVHA) has exciting news to share with the community of Douglas – a new partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library! This collaboration aims to bring the joy of reading to children in the rural area, fostering early literacy and a lifelong love for books.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a renowned book gifting program that sends free, high-quality books to children aged from birth to five years old, irrespective of their family’s income. Launched in 1995 in Sevier County, Tennessee, where Dolly Parton grew up, the initiative rapidly expanded nationwide by 2000, reaching a milestone of one million books sent by 2003. Today, millions of books continue to be distributed globally, nurturing a passion for reading and learning from a tender age.
In Douglas, all children aged from birth to five are now eligible to benefit from this program, regardless of whether their families are customers of CVHA. This inclusivity ensures that every child in the community has access to the wonders of the Imagination Library.
Frances Stewart, a community connector at Clyde Valley Housing Association, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership stating, “We are incredibly excited to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Douglas. This program will have a significant impact on our young children, promoting early literacy and instilling a lifelong love for reading. It’s a fantastic resource for families, and we are delighted to support this initiative within our community.”
