Tepeo wins prestigious Ashden Award for climate innovation.

tepeo, a groundbreaking company dedicated to providing low-cost, low-carbon heating solutions, has emerged victorious at the prestigious Ashden Award for Energy Innovation in the UK. The 2024 Ashden Awards showcased the most innovative and inclusive climate solutions during London Climate Action Week – a city-wide climate festival that took place from 22-30 June. tepeo’s success was celebrated alongside six other winners at the Institution of Engineering and Technology in London on 27 June.
Established in 2018, tepeo aims to offer UK households an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuel heating systems. Their innovative approach led to the development of the Zero Emission Boiler (ZEB®) – a plug-and-play solution that significantly reduces carbon emissions while providing cost-effective home heating through thermal storage technology.
Out of over 500 organisations that vied for the 2024 Ashden Awards, tepeo emerged as one of the two finalists in the Energy Innovation category following a rigorous evaluation process involving industry experts. The company will receive a grant of £10,000 along with additional support, including publicity and connections to potential funders, investors, and climate sector leaders to help them further expand their operations.
Johan du Plessis, CEO & Founder of tepeo, expressed his gratitude for the award, stating, “Receiving this prestigious cleantech award during London Climate Action Week is a testament to tepeo’s ongoing efforts to decarbonize domestic heating and combat climate change while addressing fuel poverty in the UK.”
Dr Ashok Sinha, CEO of Ashden, commended the winners for their efforts in addressing climate challenges while creating positive social impacts such as new green jobs and fairer societies through their innovative approaches.
