Long-serving Jim Fraser retires after 43 years at Elderpark.

Elderpark Housing bids farewell to Jim Fraser, a dedicated staff member retiring after an impressive 43 years of service. With his last day set for the end of July, Jim leaves behind a legacy of unwavering commitment to Elderpark and the community it serves. His tenure could very well make him the longest-serving estates staff member in any housing provider in Scotland.
Joining Elderpark in April 1981 as a painter, Jim’s initial 12-week stint turned into a lifelong career with the association. Refusing opportunities to move within the housing sector, Jim’s dedication to his roots in Glasgow’s Kinning Park neighbourhood shines through in his decision to stay and serve his community.
Reflecting on his time at Elderpark, Jim expresses that the years have passed in the blink of an eye. He acknowledges the vital role of community-based housing associations like Elderpark in fostering togetherness and supporting residents through challenging times.
Jim highlights the Association’s efforts during the pandemic, where he was part of a team that delivered over 5,000 meals to isolated residents. In times of crisis, Elderpark’s commitment to supporting tenants and maintaining community spirit remains unwavering.
Chief Executive Gary Dalziel praises Jim’s dedication, describing him as a kind, considerate, and caring colleague who has been a driving force behind Elderpark for over four decades. Jim’s departure will undoubtedly leave a void within the organisation, but his contributions will forever be cherished.
As Jim embarks on a new chapter in his life, Elderpark and the community extend their gratitude for his invaluable service and wish him a long and happy retirement. Jim’s impact on Elderpark Housing and the lives of those around him is truly immeasurable, leaving a lasting legacy of dedication and compassion.
