Dundas Saves Housing Projects Stuck in Limbo
Residential developments in Shawfair and Bishopton have been saved from a standstill as property developer Dundas Estates steps in to take over from the collapsed developer Stewart Milne. Dundas has recently acquired a site in Shawfair, located just six miles south of Edinburgh, where they plan to build 59 high-quality homes ranging from three to six bedrooms. These homes are set to exceed industry standards and are expected to be ready for occupancy by late autumn 2024.
Shawfair, a burgeoning neighbourhood on the outskirts of the city, offers a range of amenities including local shops, community health facilities, and 3km of cycle paths that provide easy access to the train station, schools, and Park & Ride services.
In Bishopton, construction is also set to begin on 179 homes, with 62 of them designated as affordable housing options. These properties will feature a mix of three to six bedrooms and Dundas aims to have the first homes ready by late summer 2024. Additionally, the developer will contribute to the development of a community woodland park, recreational spaces, and other essential facilities like a health centre and primary school.
Craig Fairfoull, Dundas’ sales & marketing director, expressed understanding for the challenges and uncertainties faced by prospective homeowners left in limbo by the previous developer. He assured those with reservations from dealings with Stewart Milne to get in touch to facilitate a smooth transition.
Both developments in Shawfair and Bishopton will see Dundas continue with similar house types in terms of style and quality to what was initially planned. The acquisition of these sites was made possible with the support of legal experts at Anderson Strathern.
