Clyde Valley Housing gives back to North Motherwell festivities
The North Motherwell community recently came alive with joy and celebration as the North Fest Family Day made its triumphant debut, all thanks to the hard work and dedication of local resident Lynn McFarlane and her team.
After a hiatus of over 30 years since the last gala day, North Fest created unforgettable memories for the youngsters and brought the community together in a spectacular way.
Lynn McFarlane took the reins for North Fest, initiating a GoFundMe page that received overwhelming support from local businesses and individuals, raising an impressive £7,000. Key contributors included Clyde Valley Housing, Asif at Spar, and the GoFundMe campaign’s initiator Cameron Dalziel, along with many others.
“I didn’t want any child to miss out, and our fundraising made this event free for them,” Lynn expressed.
Looking towards the future, Lynn added: “It’s been a learning curve for us, and we aim to strengthen our community further. Plans are already in progress for next year, promising an even bigger event!”
Lynn gratefully acknowledged all contributors, stating: “We’ve forged a strong team within the community, with support from many businesses and individuals who helped us raise funds for the event. We sincerely appreciate all their contributions.”
Special recognition was given to Wullie, Barry, and Stevie Craig for their services, along with Councillor Nolan and Vaila from Clyde Valley Housing.
Vaila shared her experience, saying: “It was incredible to be part of the volunteer team. The commitment and effort shown by Lynn and her team were truly exceptional. The community came together in fantastic unity, creating a vibrant and positive atmosphere.”
Carron Garmory, chief executive of Clyde Valley Housing, also expressed her enthusiasm, stating: “The event on Saturday was fantastic! Having grown up in North Motherwell, it was heartening to witness such a strong community spirit and the beautifully decorated houses. Lynn did an exceptional job organizing the event and leading the fundraising, and Clyde Valley is proud to have contributed to its success.”
With plans already in motion for next year, North Fest looks to a bright future, offering more excitement and further strengthening the community in North Motherwell.
