Celebrating Veterans: Fire Brigades’ 200th Anniversary Concert.

The State Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland is set to take centre stage at a charity concert organised by Skypark Glasgow in support of the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust. This event coincides with the 200-year anniversary of the establishment of the world’s first fire service by James Braidwood in 1824.

Featuring the iconic State Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland along with pipers from various Scottish Regiments, the concert promises to be a memorable evening at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock on 13th September. This special event aims to raise funds for veterans’ charities including the Army Benevolent Fund, Erskine Care Home, Sight Scotland, and the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust.

The chairman of the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust, Dave Adam, expressed his pride in hosting the Band at the charity concert, highlighting their impressive track record at significant national events. The concert programme will feature a diverse range of music genres such as traditional military tunes, folk melodies, iconic movie themes, and more, accompanied by pipers from the Army School of Piping in Edinburgh.

This family-friendly event offers an opportunity to celebrate the historic 200-year legacy of the Scottish Brigade while showing support for the veterans benefiting from the concert. The generosity of Skypark, Rapid Fire Service, and VQ Construction has been instrumental in making this concert a reality, and their support is greatly appreciated.

Malcolm McFetridge, the centre manager at Skypark, expressed his delight in supporting the concert that honours 200 years of the UK Fire Service. He emphasised the crucial role that veterans play in our communities, urging everyone to participate in the event and make a positive difference.

Tickets for the concert are priced at £15, with concession tickets available for £12. For bookings, please contact the Beacon Arts Centre box office at info@beaconartscentre.co.uk or call 01475 723723.
