Edinburgh Fringe Festival showcases Green Home Festival.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is embracing the importance of sustainable living by incorporating the Green Home Festival into its offerings. Now in its third year, the Green Home Festival will be held at Charlotte Square Gardens from 12 to 16 August. This festival will showcase a range of shows, including workshops, panel discussions, and live demonstrations, all focused on promoting sustainable living practices.

This year’s programme of free-to-attend shows includes a variety of informative sessions. From learning how to access funding for home transformations to understanding the retrofitting process, there is something for everyone interested in sustainable living. Attendees can also explore energy-efficient building strategies, discover cutting-edge heating technologies, and debunk common myths about heat pumps in older homes. Additionally, there will be a focus on sustainable materials in construction, such as low-carbon bricks and innovative seaweed-based paints.

Gordon Nelson, Scotland director of the Federation of Master Builders and lead organiser of the Green Home Festival, emphasised the increasing demand for sustainable living solutions. He stated, “The Green Home Festival’s growing popularity reflects the need for education, information, and inspiration towards greener practices that are vital for our future. By leveraging the Edinburgh Festival Fringe’s global renown, we can effectively communicate the essential changes and diverse options available for a low carbon transition.”

Catering to a wide audience, from homeowners and community groups to international visitors, the festival aims to show that small changes can indeed make a significant environmental impact. Featuring expert speakers and practical demonstrations, such as a full-size heat pump, the Green Home Festival is a must-visit for anyone looking to make a sustainable difference.

All events at the Green Home Festival are free to attend. For more information and to book your tickets, please visit www.greenhomefestival.co.uk.
