New EV super charging hub planned for Crawley!

Sixpenny Group, a prominent real estate investor and developer, has announced an ambitious project to establish a cutting-edge electric vehicle supercharging hub at the Manor Royal business park in Crawley, West Sussex. This development aims to revolutionize the infrastructure for electric vehicles in the area and contribute towards a sustainable future.

The initiative involves demolishing a redundant 19,000 sq.ft office block to make way for a state-of-the-art facility. The new hub will feature 28 charging bays equipped with various chargers ranging from 22 to 400 kilowatts. Additionally, there will be dedicated charging stations for long-wheelbase commercial vans, catering to a diverse range of electric vehicles.

One of the standout features of the project is a high-specification Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capable of delivering one megawatt output for two hours. This technology will enhance the efficiency and reliability of the charging hub, ensuring a seamless experience for customers.

Alongside the charging facility, the site will also host 5,500 sq.ft of retail and restaurant units, offering convenience and amenities to visitors. A ‘pocket park’ will further enhance the environment, providing a green space for relaxation and enjoyment.

The collaboration between Sixpenny Group and Arcus-PCD underscores a commitment to driving sustainable development in the region. The developers are focused on creating a network of EV hubs across Greater London and the south of the UK, with plans for further expansions in the pipeline.

Egor Shestakov, Director of Sixpenny Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This is a fantastic opportunity to repurpose underutilised office space into essential EV infrastructure. Our dedication to sustainability and community engagement is at the core of this initiative, ensuring long-term value for all stakeholders involved.”

David Bowcock, also a Director of Sixpenny Group, highlighted the strategic importance of the new charging facility. He emphasised the growing demand for rapid chargers in the area and the pivotal role the hub will play in supporting sustainable growth in Manor Royal.

With its strategic location in the heart of the Manor Royal Business District, the EV charging hub is set to become a vital resource for businesses and residents alike. The proximity to key transport networks, including the airport, further reinforces the hub’s significance in promoting eco-friendly transportation solutions.

As the project progresses, the developers are steadfast in their commitment to delivering a world-class facility that aligns with the evolving needs of the community.
