Harbour Homes aids tenants with grants for basics.

Harbour Homes, a leading housing organisation, is taking proactive steps to support its tenants amidst the challenging economic climate. Since April, the company has invested a significant £30,000 to provide housing starter packs filled with high-quality, gently-used furniture for new tenants. Eligible tenants are entitled to receive vouchers worth up to £500, allowing them to select the items they need and have them delivered free of charge.
In addition to this initiative, Harbour Homes has successfully secured £15,000 in funding to offer one-off grants aimed at assisting tenants in purchasing essential furniture, flooring, and white goods. To further support their tenants, the company has also allocated separate funds of £6,000 for carpeting or flooring and £3,000 for white goods.
Fiona Whitelaw, who serves as the tenant advice team leader at Harbour Homes, expressed her concerns over the escalating cost of living crisis and the impact it has had on tenants. She stated, “With the cost of living crisis showing little sign of abating and changes to the Scottish Welfare Fund, unfortunately many more of our tenants are finding it increasingly difficult to pay for essentials such as flooring, furniture, and white goods. We’re really proud of all the work we’re doing to secure and free up funding so people can have these essentials in their homes.”
This noble effort by Harbour Homes not only demonstrates their commitment to supporting their community but also showcases their dedication to ensuring that all tenants have access to a comfortable and well-equipped living space. By providing practical assistance in the form of grants and starter packs, the organisation is making a tangible difference in the lives of those facing financial hardships.
