ng homes aims to improve communication with tenants post-TPAS Conference.

ng homes is on a mission to enhance communication and engage tenants following the TPAS Conference in a bid to revolutionize tenant interaction.
Lynne Cooper, the director of housing services at ng homes, disclosed critical insights from the conference, highlighting the significance of communication and tenant engagement as core themes.
The conference underscored the pivotal role that communication plays in all aspects. From discussions around enhancing communication from politicians to a panel session emphasizing the need for active listening, the event was a testament to the power of effective communication.
Ms Cooper stressed, “Effective communication with tenants is a cornerstone, and sometimes what we think is adequate might just not be enough.”
As the headline sponsor of this year’s TPAS Scotland conference, ng homes faces a challenge in attracting new tenants to its board, especially from younger demographics.
Ms Cooper explained, “We need to adopt a fresh approach by continuously listening to tenants’ needs without making assumptions. Being open to improvements is key, and by incorporating these elements, our communication efforts are bound to strengthen.”
The conference delved into diverse communication channels, ranging from traditional print newsletters to modern digital platforms like social media. Reflecting on these discussions and workshops, Ms Cooper raised a critical question, “We currently distribute our newsletter biannually, but how do we focus our efforts to engage tenants in discussions more effectively? Should we explore platforms like TikTok or Instagram to reach them?”
Recognising the value of scrutiny groups, ng homes acknowledged the challenges faced during the pandemic in transitioning focus groups online. The need to re-establish in-person engagement poses another obstacle for the organisation.
Ms Cooper highlighted, “Listening to tenants’ perspectives and understanding their preferences is crucial. We are working on ways to involve tenants in decision-making processes, whether through subgroups or themed sessions that align with their interests.”
A renewed emphasis on tenant engagement is set to drive transformative changes for ng homes in the upcoming six to twelve months. The insights and inspiration gained from the TPAS conference have paved the way for fresh ideas to engage with tenants and residents in North Glasgow.
John Devine, CEO of ng homes, expressed, “Participating in the TPAS annual conference has been an enriching experience for our team and tenants. The exchange of knowledge and learnings with other housing associations and tenants has been invaluable, and we extend our gratitude to TPAS Scotland for the exceptional event.”
Jacqueline Norwood, Interim CEO at TPAS Scotland, remarked, “ng homes’ support at this year’s Annual Conference was priceless. Their contribution helped us create a more impactful event, offering a positive experience for all attendees. We look forward to collaborating further with ng homes to elevate their tenant engagement strategy.”
