More Electric Cars Added to Edinburgh Fleet by Enterprise

The Enterprise Car Club is making significant strides in expanding its electric vehicle fleet in Edinburgh, offering local businesses, residents, and visitors the opportunity to trial and drive eco-friendly cars.
The mobility specialist has kicked off with an initial 12 electric vehicles and plans to strategically increase the number of EVs across the city throughout the summer as demand grows among car club members.
This move aligns perfectly with Edinburgh City Council’s emphasis on promoting EVs as part of its sustainable transport strategy, especially as the enforcement of Edinburgh’s Low Emission Zone took effect on 1 June.
Currently stationed at various convenient locations like Brunswick Road, Marchmont Crescent, Edinburgh University, Holyrood Road, Hopetoun Crescent, and Vanburgh Place, the electric vehicles are within easy reach of residential, commercial, and business areas, as well as Waverley Station. These additions will complement Enterprise Car Club’s existing network spanning across Scotland, including the Highlands and Islands.
To encourage more uptake, the company is offering a special rate for electric vehicle rentals until 1 September 2024. On top of that, Enterprise is planning to organise drop-in sessions at its rental branches to guide users on how to use and charge an electric vehicle effectively.
Adam Lovelock, Enterprise’s general manager in Scotland, shared, “Renting presents a fantastic opportunity for people to dip their toes into the world of electric driving and familiarise themselves with using and charging these vehicles.
“Our focus is on enhancing the overall customer experience, not just the vehicle itself, as we believe this is key to driving the adoption of electric vehicles. Through our drop-in sessions, we aim to inspire and educate potential users about the benefits of electric vehicles, while our expanded charging network ensures that renting an electric vehicle is hassle-free, with ample charging points spread across the city.”
Enterprise Car Club caters to a diverse range of customers, including city council employees. Surprisingly, one in five Enterprise Car Club trips in Edinburgh serve business purposes, while the remaining trips are for personal use. Moreover, one in ten users hails from outside the city and utilises the car club during their visit, often picking up a vehicle at the primary public transport hubs.
Councillor Scott Arthur, Transport and Environment Convener, expressed, “The steady expansion of our chargers network and the growing electric car club fleet mark crucial milestones towards achieving a cleaner, more sustainable transport system in Edinburgh. We’re offering simple access to affordable electric vehicles, thereby providing a fantastic option for individuals looking to contribute to our collective journey towards net zero emissions.”
