Taylor Wimpey approved for 137 homes in Dolphingstone

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has officially received detailed planning consent from East Lothian Council for the construction of the initial 137 new homes and nine two-bedroom affordable apartments within its upcoming Dolphingstone development. This approval marks a significant milestone in the journey towards establishing a vibrant community comprising approximately 700 homes. Already in progress are essential infrastructure and preparatory works to kickstart the construction of the first residences.
The overarching vision for the Dolphingstone project encompasses incorporating 25% of the housing units as affordable homes. Additionally, the initiative will contribute towards establishing a proposed new secondary school, enhancing local transportation infrastructure, and establishing new pedestrian and cycling pathways connecting to Wallyford and the nearby train station, fostering an active travel environment.
Pauline Mills, serving as the technical director at Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, expressed delight over the successful acquisition of planning consent for the initial phase of homes and apartments at Dolphingstone by the local council.
Mills remarked, “We are thrilled to announce the approval of our planning application for the first batch of new residences at our Dolphingstone development by East Lothian Council. We have already initiated the groundwork to facilitate infrastructure and preparatory operations at the site, solidifying our dedication to the broader East Lothian region.”
She continued, “This extensive project is anticipated to span several months, and as responsible developers, we are committed to executing it with maximum efficiency to minimise disruptions to the surrounding community. Over time, we have observed sustained interest in our residential projects across East Lothian from prospective homeowners seeking to leverage the exceptional location and excellent commuting links to Edinburgh and beyond that this area offers.”
“Commencing our preparatory and infrastructure activities will enable us to uphold our commitment to contributing to the supply of new homes under the overarching East Lothian Local Development Plan. Simultaneously, we aim to introduce a diverse range of residences that will cater to the preferences of various buyers seeking to make this area their home,” Mills added.
