Ambassador Group’s Vision for Granite House

Ambassador Group has put forward an ambitious plan to repurpose vacant floors of the iconic Granite House, located at the bustling intersection of Trongate and Stockwell Street in Glasgow. The aim is to transform this historic office and retail block into student accommodation, breathing new life into the city centre.

Designed by Mosaic Architecture + Design, the project envisions the creation of 289 cluster and studio apartments across five upper floors. In addition to this residential space, the proposal includes redesigning the ground floor retail units with uniformed shop frontages, constructing a landscaped rooftop amenity area, and removing a central section of the building to establish a new courtyard.

The submitted design document emphasises the opportunity this development presents to revitalize an underutilised building within an urban environment, stating: “This offers a positive redevelopment opportunity in an underutilized building within an urban setting which requires reinvigorating.”
