Charge your electric car for just £10 monthly with new smart tariff

Good news for all electric car drivers! According to Ohme, the latest smart EV tariffs could potentially allow drivers to charge their electric vehicles for less than £10 a month.
With the reduction in electricity prices starting from 1 July, EV drivers are in for a treat with lower charging costs. But the real game-changer lies in the smart EV tariffs, such as Ohme’s, which can take those savings to a whole new level.
From 1 July, the standard variable tariff is set to drop to 22.4p/kWh, the lowest price seen in almost two years. This means that EV drivers charging at home will experience significant savings. However, by opting for a smart EV tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go, the annual costs for a typical EV driver could be slashed to an incredible £9.92 a month.
Ohme’s cutting-edge smart chargers have the ability to connect with the grid in real-time, making automatic adjustments to optimise the cost of charging by tapping into the smartest, greenest, and most cost-effective energy tariffs available.
For instance, charging a typical EV for 6,800 miles of driving – which happens to be the UK annual average – would come to £382.50 on the new standard variable tariff. However, with a smart EV tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go offering a price of 7p/kWh, the same mileage would only cost £119. In comparison, covering the same distance in a petrol car would set you back well over £1,100.
David Watson, the CEO of Ohme, expressed his excitement about the latest drop in electricity prices, stating, “This latest reduction in the price of electricity will be welcome news for drivers of EVs. However, they could easily lower those bills further by finding out if their electricity supplier offers a special tariff for EV drivers. If not, then they should consider switching to an energy provider that does to enjoy even greater savings when running an EV.”
