Stagecoach orders buses from Alexander Dennis – transportandenergy.

Global bus manufacturer Alexander Dennis has exciting news for the readers of Net Zero Club News Network! They have recently secured an order for 244 next-generation zero-emission buses from transport group Stagecoach.

Thanks to Stagecoach’s support in successful bids to the UK Government’s Zero-Emission Regional Bus Areas scheme (ZEBRA 2), they have been able to place the largest single order of Alexander Dennis’ zero-emission buses to date.

What can we expect from this order? Well, 180 new Enviro400EV double decker buses will be joining Stagecoach’s fleet. These buses boast an impressive energy efficiency of just 0.67kWh/km over the UK Bus Cycle, along with 472kWh batteries and class-leading warrantable energy throughput of up to 1.6GWh. This all adds up to a compelling total cost of ownership proposition.

But that’s not all! There will also be 54 Enviro200EV buses in lengths of 10.9m and 11.7m. This marks the first order for Alexander Dennis’ new integral single decker, which is set to launch next year. These buses will complement Stagecoach’s existing range of next-generation electric buses.

All the Enviro400EV, Enviro200EV, and Enviro100EV buses ordered with ZEBRA 2 funding will be delivered to Stagecoach’s operating companies in England throughout 2025 and 2026.

Paul Davies, President & Managing Director of Alexander Dennis, expressed his delight at Stagecoach benefiting from their platform approach to vehicle development. This approach maximises the number of common parts and solutions across all three vehicle types, making them easy to drive and maintain.

Claire Miles, Chief Executive Officer for Stagecoach, shared her excitement about this significant electric vehicle order. These 244 new buses reflect Stagecoach’s commitment to transitioning to a zero-emission bus fleet and continuing their efforts to tackle climate change while connecting communities across the UK sustainably and efficiently.
