Businesses seek stability from energy suppliers.

During a recent episode of the Future Net Zero podcast, Anthony Ainsworth, the Chief Operating Officer for npower Business Solutions, shared valuable insights on how sustainability can drive business growth.
“We’re facing a pressing need to accelerate our planning processes in order to achieve our net zero targets,” Ainsworth emphasised.
“To truly facilitate this energy transition in the UK, we cannot afford to operate in the same manner we have over the past decade. Regardless of the political landscape, we must streamline our planning procedures to ramp up renewable capacity across the UK. It’s imperative that we adopt a long-term perspective spanning the next 20-25 years, which necessitates cutting through bureaucratic hurdles.
“Simplifying the planning process, expediting grid connections, and reinforcing the grid infrastructure are key to our success. This is a collective effort that requires commitment from all stakeholders.”
Ainsworth also highlighted the benefits for businesses in embracing the net zero agenda. “Businesses recognise the significance of transitioning towards net zero operations. Not only is it advantageous in terms of sustainability, but it also yields cost savings over time,” he explained.
“CEOs looking to maintain stakeholder and customer satisfaction, along with CFOs seeking to optimise costs, find the net zero journey appealing. However, there is a notable lack of clarity regarding government policies and incentives aimed at driving the net zero agenda.
“While businesses are eager to contribute, there is a need for legislation that targets the majority of mid-tier enterprises. There is untapped potential in this segment that can be harnessed to accelerate our progress towards net zero,” Ainsworth elaborated.
