Norton staff switch to electric cars in new salary sacrifice scheme

Norton Motorcycles is revolutionising the way its employees commute by offering them the opportunity to switch to electric cars and enjoy significant cost savings of up to 40% through a brand new salary sacrifice scheme.
Norton has partnered with EV leasing specialist DriveElectric to introduce this exciting scheme to its workforce.
Known for its iconic British motorcycles, Norton is currently in the process of developing an electric motorbike. In a bid to promote sustainability and reduce carbon emissions, the company has collaborated with DriveElectric to empower its employees to embrace eco-friendly driving habits. Through this innovative programme, employees can slash the costs of driving a new electric vehicle by hundreds of pounds each month.
Rob Ridgway, head of human resources at Norton Motorcycles, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “As a member of the leadership team at Norton, I feel that I’m playing my part in developing our people and this iconic brand. Motorcycles already represent a sustainable way of getting around, but by offering our ‘Nortoneers’ the option to switch to electric cars via salary sacrifice, we are collectively making a significant contribution to reducing our carbon footprint. This additional perk is our way of rewarding our dedicated team for their hard work and passion.”
The salary sacrifice scheme allows employees to enjoy savings of up to 40% on an electric vehicle by exchanging a portion of their salary. The amount sacrificed is deducted from the employee’s income tax and national insurance contributions, providing them with substantial financial benefits. Additionally, this scheme reduces the employer’s national insurance contribution.
Compared to personal leasing options, employees can benefit from significant cost reductions through the salary sacrifice scheme. For example, a 40% taxpayer could save £2,358 annually on a new MG4 SE or £3,317 annually on a new Tesla Model Y Long Range.
Norton Motorcycles is offering its employees access to DriveElectric’s ‘Complete’ salary sacrifice solution, which includes insurance coverage and early termination protection. Furthermore, employees can opt for a Pod Point 7kW Solo 3 home charger with an exclusive EV tariff as part of the package, enabling them to make substantial savings on home charging expenses.
In addition to these benefits, salary sacrifice customers can take advantage of DriveElectric Plus, a smart charging solution that can reduce EV charging emissions by up to 89%.
Mike Potter, managing director of DriveElectric, highlighted the advantages of the scheme, stating, “Norton Motorcycles has joined a growing list of organisations benefiting from salary sacrifice. Employees have the opportunity to save thousands of pounds annually on new or used EVs, while simultaneously reducing environmental impact and improving local air quality. Our team of EV experts is dedicated to supporting Norton’s employees throughout their electric car journey, providing valuable insights and guidance on all aspects of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.”
