Osprey secures land for Scotland’s largest EV charging hub.

Osprey Charging is forging ahead with ambitious plans to install 16 ultra-rapid chargers in Paisley, Glasgow, following the successful acquisition of the land.
Osprey envisions establishing 30 hubs by 2024
The green light has been granted for the construction of a 300kW ultra-rapid charging hub, with work scheduled to kick off in the summer. The site is anticipated to be officially unveiled at the beginning of 2025.
This 16-charger hub will be Osprey’s largest charging facility in Scotland, strategically situated opposite the Phoenix Retail Park on the A737, just a stone’s throw away from the M8 and Glasgow Airport.
Situated beside the Showcase Cinema and north of the McDonald’s drive-thru, it will also be conveniently close to various on-site shops and amenities where EV drivers can recharge and relax.
This hub represents Osprey’s second freehold site after the Salmon’s Leap location in Devon, inaugurated last year. The rapidly expanding rapid charging network is on the brink of announcing further acquisitions in the upcoming weeks.
With over 200 rapid and ultra-rapid charge points already installed in 2024, Osprey highlighted that owning the freehold for the site provides greater flexibility in design, ensuring alignment with their ethos of simplicity, convenience, safety, and accessibility for all charging needs.
Ian Johnston, the CEO of Osprey Charging, remarked, “Securing freehold sites is a strategic move for Osprey, enabling us to construct larger public charging points with enhanced design flexibility. This hub will play a pivotal role in bolstering EV adoption in Scotland and meeting the escalating demand for reliable, accessible, and top-notch EV charging infrastructure across the UK.”
He added, “In this year alone, we have successfully rolled out nine high-powered hubs in various UK locations, and the upcoming Paisley hub across from the Phoenix Retail Park will be another significant milestone in our rapidly expanding network. Our aim is to complete 30 hubs by the end of the year, marking a momentous leap forward in advancing our network and strengthening the overall public EV charging framework.”
Osprey Charging now boasts over 1,000 rapid and ultra-rapid chargers strategically placed in key urban and rural areas across the UK. With a remarkable reliability rate of 99%, the charge point operator was also lauded as a ‘Driver Recommended Network’ for the fourth consecutive time by Zapmap, as per the latest rankings from 2023/4.
