Kinross Council Greenlights 10 Short-Term Lets on High Street

Perth and Kinross Council has given the green light to Glenshire Developments Ltd to convert a building above a Kinross High Street supermarket into ten short-term let units. This exciting development will see the creation of one-bedroom holiday lets, complete with ensuite facilities and kitchenettes. The first floor will house eight units, while the second floor will have two units, all complemented by a communal seating area.
Situated within the Kinross Conservation Area, the proposal was met with mixed reactions, with seven objections submitted to the council. Among the objectors were the Kinross-shire Civic Trust and Kinross Community Council, expressing concerns about the impact on town centre parking as ten spaces in the supermarket car park will be designated for the short-term lets.
Despite these objections, the council’s planning and application committee unanimously approved the plans. In their report, the council stated that the supermarket’s car park, being a private facility, often has available spaces and would still have adequate parking for both the supermarket and the short-term lets.
The plans represent a unique opportunity to repurpose a building in a prime location, adding value to the area and providing additional hospitality options for visitors to Kinross. This development marks a positive step towards enhancing the town’s offerings and supporting its economic growth.
