Blue Triangle CEO joins Care Providers’ Coalition board.

Gary Meek, the CEO of Blue Triangle, has recently joined the board of the Coalition of Care and Support Providers (CCPS) in Scotland. His appointment brings a fresh and unique perspective to the board, given Blue Triangle’s position as the largest provider of supported accommodation in Scotland, along with its outreach work within the community.

CCPS serves as the voice of not-for-profit social care providers in Scotland, with a vision for individuals and families to thrive through a rights and relationship-based care and support system. The mission of CCPS is to identify, represent, promote, and safeguard the interests of third sector and not-for-profit social care and support providers in Scotland, enabling them to maximise their impact on meeting social needs.

Gary Meek brings a wealth of transformative leadership experience, cultivated through various roles, including his tenure as CEO of Glasgow Council on Alcohol. His unwavering passion for creating social impact drives initiatives aimed at addressing homelessness and addiction, catalysing positive change within communities. With a strategic vision that fosters collaboration and resource leverage, Gary spearheads the provision of vital support services and housing solutions.

His commitment to holistic well-being shines through in his advocacy for marginalized populations, empowering individuals to embark on a journey towards rebuilding their lives. Through innovative programmes and strategic partnerships, Gary continues to be a champion of resilience and empowerment, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and progress.

In his own words, Gary Meek expressed, “I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with my colleagues at CCPS and help support equality across the care sector.”

Blue Triangle currently operates 26 services across 10 local authorities, with dedicated staff supporting individuals towards gaining their own tenancy. By providing safe, supportive, and psychologically informed environments, Blue Triangle assists individuals at different stages of their support journey, offering crucial time and space for a fresh start. The staff, being trauma-informed, are available round the clock and advocate for the rights of those they support, helping them overcome barriers whenever possible.

As Blue Triangle embarks on a new chapter, unveiling its five-year strategy amidst a national housing emergency, the organisation looks forward to commemorating its 50th anniversary in 2025. Over the years, Blue Triangle has expanded its presence into ten local authorities, solidifying its commitment to serving communities and individuals in need.

The new strategy of Blue Triangle encapsulates three core commitments:

  • We commit to improving the lives of the people we support
  • We commit to enhancing the communities in which we work
  • We commit to ensuring resources are reinvested to support future developments and uphold our sustainability as an organisation

The organisation aims to support 600 individuals over the next five years, achieve a Care Inspectorate Grade 5 rating across 95% of Blue Triangle services, and emerge as a leading advocate in the sector. Blue Triangle has set ambitious targets of achieving a £20 million turnover during 2024-2029, reinvesting £700,000 of surplus, and securing 20% of income from alternative funding sources.
