Citroën ë-C3: 199 miles, under £22k

Citroën has officially announced the pricing for the new C3 supermini and the fully electric ë-C3, with the aim of offering a “beautifully simple vehicle at an extremely competitive price”.

The order books for the ë-C3 will open in July, starting at £21,990 with a WLTP range of 199 miles, making electric mobility more accessible to everyone. Following this, the petrol-powered fourth-generation C3 will be available in September, starting at £17,790.

The new ë-C3 comes in Plus and Max grades and is the first model from Stellantis to feature the cost-efficient ‘BEV-focused’ Smart Car platform, shared with the new Vauxhall Frontera. It utilises a 44kWh LFP (lithium ferro phosphate) battery pack, offering smooth all-electric performance and elegant simplicity at incredible value.

Equipped with a 113hp (83kW) electric motor and automatic transmission, the ë-C3 can go from 0-62mph in approximately 11 seconds, with a provisional top speed of 84mph. It features standard AC fast charging that takes around four hours and 10 minutes from 20% to 80% using a 7.4kW charger, or two hours and 50 minutes with the optional 11kW onboard charger. With 100kW DC rapid charging capabilities, it can charge from 20% to 80% in just 26 minutes.

Drivers can plan their journeys and monitor their charging status and battery level in real-time through the new e-Routes app, part of the brand’s ‘Connect Plus’ connected services subscription. The MyCitroën app allows ë-C3 drivers to manage charging schedules, pre-heat or pre-cool the vehicle for Max versions, and check the battery level and location.

In Europe, an even more affordable variant of the ë-C3 with a 124-mile range and a price tag of €19,990 (approximately £17,000) will be introduced in 2025, although its availability in the UK is yet to be confirmed.

The petrol-powered C3 features a PureTech 100 S&S six-speed manual with 128g/km of CO2 emissions in Plus trim. A hybrid version is set to join the range by the end of 2024.

The Plus trim, available for both powertrains, features a new 10-inch central touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and natural voice recognition. It also includes Advanced Comfort front seats, Advanced Comfort suspension, and a one-year free subscription to Citroën Connect Plus services offering automatic data connection through the Citroën Connect Box emergency and assistance system.

Safety features in the C3 include video-based active safety brake, active lane departure warning system, speed limit detection and recommendation, driver attention alert, hill start assist, cruise control, and a speed limiter.

The Max grade, exclusive to the ë-C3 and priced at £23,690, provides additional features such as a rear parking camera, automatic air con, LED rear lights, dark-tinted windows, heated steering wheel, windscreen, and front seats. Max versions also offer real-time traffic updates and speed camera awareness through the ‘Citroën Connect Plus’ services.
