Avant approved for 92-home project in Tranent

Avant Homes Scotland has been given the green light to construct 92 new homes in Tranent, marking a significant step towards sustainable urban development. The £31 million residential project, known as Thistle Meadows, will be situated off South Glynn Walk and will consist of a variety of three-, four-, and five-bedroom family homes.
The development will showcase 10 of Avant Homes’ meticulously crafted, energy-efficient house designs, including both semi-detached and detached properties. While the pricing details are yet to be revealed, the exquisite homes are sure to attract a wide range of potential buyers.
Construction work at Thistle Meadows is set to commence in May, with the first properties expected to hit the market in June. Prospective residents can start moving into their new homes as early as February 2025, offering a glimpse of the exciting future that lies ahead for this vibrant community.
Expressing enthusiasm for the project, Avant Homes Scotland’s managing director, Jim Wilkinson, stated, “We take pride in our dedication to delivering high-quality homes in sought-after locations. The initiation of work at Thistle Meadows reflects our commitment to offering well-designed, energy-efficient homes catering to diverse market segments.”
“From first-time buyers to growing families and downsizers, we aim to provide a diverse range of options to meet the evolving needs of homebuyers. The overwhelming interest we have received for Thistle Meadows underscores the strong demand for our properties, and we anticipate this trend to grow significantly following the approval of our planning application,” added Wilkinson.
The broader Windygoul South development, encompassing 561 residential units alongside school expansion facilities and sports amenities, received preliminary planning consent back in December 2019. Various sections of the site are already undergoing construction activities to transform the vision into reality.
It is worth noting that all homes covered under the recent planning approval are intended for private sale, with affordable housing provisions allocated in other parts of the larger development. Avant Homes Scotland’s acquisition of the 9.25-acre Tranent site earlier this year underscores the company’s proactive approach towards expanding its presence in the region.
