Evri launches EV charging hubs nationwide.

Evri, the parcel delivery company, has taken a significant step towards achieving its net zero goals by installing one of its first electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs. This hub, located at the high-volume sorting centre in Rugby, is a part of a larger programme that aims to install new EV chargers at Evri’s sites across the UK.
The collaboration between Evri and Blink Charging UK has resulted in the installation of 12 22kW chargers at the Rugby hub. This number is expected to grow as Evri incorporates more electric vehicles into its fleet, aligning with its target to achieve net zero by 2035.
The 24-hour operation hub in Rugby is strategically designed to cater to the charging needs of Evri’s staff and fleet vehicles. With the chargers estimated to be in use for 60-80% of the time, accessibility and efficiency have been key considerations in their placement.
The parcel distribution hub in Rugby is a state-of-the-art facility that can process over one million parcels daily. By installing Blink chargers, Evri is not only enhancing its charging infrastructure but also expanding its fleet of low-carbon vehicles, which already includes 167 electric vans and a growing fleet of e-cargo bikes.
Evri’s choice of Blink for the Rugby site was based on Blink’s reputation for reliable, scalable EV equipment and fleet expertise. Pauline Potter, director of procurement and sustainability at Evri, expressed the company’s commitment to a sustainable future through this partnership with Blink, emphasising the importance of building a more sustainable future for both parcel delivery and the communities served.
Alex Calnan, managing director at Blink Charging UK, highlighted the exciting opportunity to collaborate with Evri in accelerating the deployment of zero-emission delivery services in the UK. Blink’s turnkey offering, covering design, installation, and management of scalable charging networks, aligns well with Evri’s ambitious plans for a net zero future.
Blink Charging UK, with a strong presence of over 2,000 chargers in the UK and Ireland, is not stopping here. The company is planning to introduce new commercial and home chargers, global network services and apps, as well as new fleet management tools to cater to diverse customers across different sectors.
This partnership between Evri and Blink Charging UK marks a significant milestone in the journey towards achieving net zero ambitions. By leveraging advanced EV technology and sustainable practices, these companies are setting a commendable example for the industry and paving the way for a greener future in parcel delivery services.
