BP Pulse partners with Lincolnshire Co-op to enhance EV charging.

BP Pulse has partnered with Lincolnshire Co-op to enhance the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Lincolnshire and surrounding counties. This collaboration has resulted in the installation of 32 new rapid 50kW charging bays, increasing the total number of BP Pulse charge points at Lincolnshire Co-op stores to 60.
With plans for further rollouts in the pipeline, this partnership aims to provide a significant boost to EV charging infrastructure in rural areas. Government statistics reveal that only one in six public chargers are located in rural regions, making it crucial to expand charging facilities outside of urban centres. Given that most Lincolnshire Co-op stores are situated in rural areas spanning Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, and Yorkshire, they are strategically positioned to cater to rural communities and offer rapid EV charging services to a broader customer base.
Andrew Turner, the procurement and sustainability advisor at Lincolnshire Co-op, expressed the importance of installing electric charging points at their outlets to support communities in reducing tailpipe emissions by encouraging the transition to hybrid and electric vehicles. He emphasised the organisation’s commitment to enhancing local environments and improving the quality of life for residents. Looking ahead, Lincolnshire Co-op aims to expand the availability of EV chargers to ensure comprehensive coverage across Lincolnshire and its neighbouring counties.
Pairing EV charging facilities with convenience enhances the overall customer experience. Recent research conducted by BP Pulse indicates that 51% of UK EV drivers utilise the opportunity to purchase snacks, hot beverages, or groceries during their charging sessions at convenience stores. To accommodate customers who require additional space for charging, the majority of Lincolnshire Co-op chargers have been installed in extra-wide bays.
Akira Kirton, the vice president of BP Pulse UK, highlighted the significance of collaboration in expediting the transition to electric vehicles. By collaborating with Lincolnshire Co-op, BP Pulse ensures that chargers are strategically located where customers need them the most. Kirton emphasised the convenience of being able to recharge a vehicle while simultaneously shopping for dinner, underscoring the seamless integration of EV charging with an exceptional convenience experience.
