Partnership wins approval for two care homes

A care development company is celebrating a significant milestone this April as it secures approval for two new care home sites in Glasgow and West Lothian. Morrison Community Care (CCG) Holdco, a joint venture between Morrison Community Care Group (MCCG) and CCG (Scotland), has successfully obtained planning permission for two new care homes catering to the elderly population aged 65 and above.
Over the past two years, Morrison Community Care has been actively involved in completing a state-of-the-art care home in Dalgety Bay, Fife, with ongoing construction at sites in Livingston and Perth. Additionally, the company has submitted plans for a mixed-use development in Linlithgow featuring a 60-bed care home and 18 private sale homes, as well as a new care home project set to regenerate land at Yarrow Recreation Club in Anniesland.
With both sites receiving approval, construction is slated to commence in Linlithgow this summer, followed by Anniesland in the autumn. Prospective residents can anticipate being welcomed into these new facilities starting from late 2025.
MCCG’s managing director, Paul Sokhi, expressed his gratitude for the approval of these projects, highlighting the company’s commitment to delivering top-quality care facilities. He emphasised Morrison Community Care’s dedication to setting the highest standard of living and service, drawing on over 30 years of experience in Scotland, as well as expanding operations to England and Ireland.
Sokhi stated, “We are on a mission to become the leading care home developer in the UK, providing sustainable and high-quality care options to meet the needs of our local communities and beyond. I extend my thanks to Glasgow City Council and West Lothian Council for their support, along with our partners in construction and design.”
Both care homes will offer 60 private ensuite bed spaces along with various amenities such as a hair salon, café, cinema, dining facilities, and communal gardens to enhance the living experience for residents.
David Wylie, CCG’s managing director, expressed delight over securing planning permission for the Anniesland and Linlithgow projects. He acknowledged the challenges faced during the planning process but highlighted the positive impact these developments will have on the elderly community and the local job market, potentially creating up to 100 job opportunities per development.
Wylie added, “This achievement is a significant milestone for CCG. These projects will not only support local jobs but also demonstrate our capabilities in delivering comprehensive construction services alongside our in-house divisions.”
In addition to the care facilities, the Linlithgow development will feature 18 two-bedroom apartments for sale, marketed by CCG’s private housing arm, CCG Homes. Calum Murray, managing director of CCG Homes, expressed confidence in the demand for these luxury apartments in the picturesque town of Linlithgow, offering energy-efficient and high-quality living options.
He commented, “Our focus on enhanced building performance and sustainable heating solutions will appeal to prospective buyers seeking modern, energy-efficient homes. We look forward to engaging with potential buyers and showcasing the unique offerings of these developments.”
