Apply now for flood grants in Fife!
Applications are now open for the Fife Council’s Property Flood Resilience Grant (PFRG) scheme, providing a much-needed support system for private homes and businesses across Fife that may be impacted by flooding. With a total of £500,000 available, this scheme offers grants of up to £5,000 per property to improve flood resilience.
The main goal of the grants is to help private property owners enhance the flood resilience of their properties. Property Flood Resilience refers to any measures applied to a building to reduce vulnerability to the physical effects of flooding. These measures can help properties and individuals become more resilient to flood impacts and shorten recovery time in case of future flooding.
Councillor Jan Wincott, spokesperson for Environment and Climate Change, emphasised the importance of this initiative in light of recent extreme weather events in Fife. The grant scheme aims to provide essential assistance to communities affected by flooding while also implementing measures to mitigate future flood risks.
The updated Climate Fife 2024 Strategy and Action Plan focuses on climate resilience, including initiatives to help residents and properties become more adaptable to flooding. Addressing the impact of flooding is just one of the strategies employed to combat climate change and prepare communities for its effects.
As part of the application process, Fife Council will guide applicants in getting a property flood assessment report from the Scottish Flood Forum. To learn more about eligibility criteria and to apply for the grant, please visit www.fife.gov.uk/PFRG.
