B-ON and Chery to launch electric van Pelkan in JV.

B-ON, a European provider of clean mobility solutions, and Chinese automotive giant Chery Group are taking their strategic partnership to new heights with the launch of the Pelkan electric van, setting a new standard in the electric van sector. Their collaboration aims to offer high-quality, low-cost solutions that leverage their individual expertise.

The Pelkan eLCV, unveiled at the CV Show 2024 in Birmingham, is a game-changer in the market. With a remarkable payload of up to 1350kg and two battery options of 43 and 54kWh, this van delivers an impressive range of up to 140 miles and 173 miles respectively (equivalent to 226 and 279km) in a sleek and user-friendly design.

Customers in mainland Europe can expect to receive their Pelkan vans from mid-2024, marking the beginning of a broader collaboration between the two companies. This partnership includes the establishment of a joint venture dedicated to the development, manufacturing, and sales of all-electric commercial vehicles.

B-ON will bring its expertise in sales, aftersales, branding, engineering design, and product development to the table, drawing from its experience with the successful StreetScooter project that produced over 20,000 electric commercial vehicles for Deutsche Post DHL Group. On the other hand, Chery Commercial Vehicle will contribute its engineering capabilities, along with supply chain support and manufacturing expertise.

Chery Group, established in 1997, is currently the third-largest automaker in China, having sold close to two million vehicles in 2023 alone. The partnership between B-ON and Chery Group signifies a significant milestone in the evolution of clean mobility solutions.
