Nissan Qashqai upgraded with new look and tech

Nissan has recently unveiled the revamped version of its popular Qashqai model, featuring a bold new look and cutting-edge infotainment and connectivity features.

Originally introduced in 2007 as a trailblazer in the crossover segment, the Qashqai is now in its third generation. The latest updates include a striking new front-end design, with a grille inspired by the scales of ancient Japanese armour, reimagined headlights, and revamped daytime running lights. The profile now boasts a sleek gloss black finish, while the rear showcases redesigned taillights with a signature ‘boomerang’ line that enhances the dynamic indicator signal. The overall aesthetic is completed with a reshaped bumper.

Adding to the appeal, the updated line-up introduces new diamond-cut alloy wheel designs, a range of colour options, and the introduction of the N-Design grade. Positioned above the Acenta Premium and N-Connecta and below the N-Design and Tekna+ trims, the N-Design grade offers distinct features, body-coloured accents, and striking 20-inch alloy wheels for a commanding on-road presence.

While the exterior changes are eye-catching, the interior updates are equally significant. The cabin now showcases new patterned materials, Alcantara finishes, and updated seat trims for the higher-spec variants, along with ambient lighting to create a welcoming ambience. The N-Design grade takes luxury up a notch with black leather upholstery featuring quilting, Alcantara inserts with embossed ‘Qashqai’ logos.

On the technological front, the refreshed Qashqai becomes the first European model in Nissan’s lineup to feature Google integrations, offering access to Google Maps and the Google Assistant. This allows drivers to control various functions such as temperature, wipers, and navigation through voice commands. Additionally, drivers can access a range of apps through Google Play for music, podcasts, audiobooks, and more directly from the vehicle.

For added convenience and security, the Nissan Connected Services app enables remote vehicle monitoring and control, including window closure and car locking. In the event of a suspected theft, the Qashqai can be immobilised, with third-party recovery services alerted promptly.

Customers with a data plan subscription can also utilise Amazon’s Alexa smart home system in their Qashqai. With Alexa integration, users can enjoy features like music playback, news updates, weather checks, smart home device control, and more—all through voice commands.

As for the powertrain options, the Qashqai retains its engine line-up, which includes mild hybrid petrol engines and the innovative e-Power hybrid system. Originally launched on both the Qashqai and X-Trail in September 2022, the e-Power hybrid utilises an electric motor to drive the front wheels while a 1.5-litre petrol engine generates electricity for the e-motor. This setup provides instant, high torque similar to an electric vehicle driving experience without the need for external charging.

Enthusiasts can look forward to the opening of order books this summer, where detailed pricing information will be made available to prospective buyers.
