New development to fulfill village centre vision.

Persimmon Homes have revealed plans for the final phase of development at Wester Inch in Bathgate, which could bring an authentic village centre atmosphere to the area. The proposed development includes new retail units and energy-efficient homes, all subject to approval by West Lothian Council.
If given the green light, the project will see the construction of new retail facilities in Wester Inch, alongside a variety of housing options ranging from apartments to townhouses. This development aligns with the council’s vision for a local neighbourhood centre in the area.
The planned retail outlets aim to meet the demands of Wester Inch residents and create an estimated 68 local retail jobs, in addition to the 144 jobs during the construction phase. A major food retailer is in talks to lease the anchor food store, while other retailers, including a pharmacy, are also eyeing the opportunity to set up shop in the area.
Persimmon Homes have taken into account feedback from the community and have included dedicated parking facilities at the new retail spaces to address concerns about the local road network’s capacity. The company has committed to prioritising the delivery of the retail element to kickstart the transformation of the village centre site.
Donald Gunn, Persimmon East Scotland’s land director, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the company’s deep-rooted connection with the area. Gunn stated, “We are pleased to bring forward revised plans that align with the council’s ambition for a mixed-use development that fosters a genuine village centre feel. Our proposals reflect the desires of the local community, with a focus on housing diversity and retail facilities.”
Should the application receive approval, Persimmon Homes will collaborate closely with the local community to ensure a positive and lasting impact on Wester Inch and the wider Bathgate area.
