Applegreen Electric joins Zapmap network

Applegreen Electric has recently joined the Zap-Pay network, making it easier for electric vehicle drivers to pay for charging across various networks. This exciting development allows users to access Applegreen Electric’s high-powered ultra-rapid chargers through the Zap-Pay platform.

Established in 2021 as a subsidiary of Applegreen, Applegreen Electric is dedicated to providing top-notch EV charge point infrastructure for en-route charging. The company is swiftly expanding its network of ultra-rapid charging points at motorway service areas in the UK, USA, and Ireland. Currently, Applegreen Electric operates approximately 160 chargers, strategically placed from Scotland to the home counties, mainly at motorway service areas.

According to Zapmap’s latest EV charging survey, motorway service areas have become the preferred charging locations for EV drivers in the UK. In fact, 55% of respondents now regularly choose motorway services for charging, surpassing supermarket car parks. Therefore, having access to Applegreen Electric’s charge points through the Zap-Pay platform is a significant benefit for drivers looking to conveniently top up their charge while on the move.

Zap-Pay offers a seamless payment solution that allows users to pay for charging using a credit or debit card. This eliminates the hassle of dealing with multiple payment methods across different networks, providing a straightforward way to pay for EV charging within the Zapmap app.

Matt Lloyd, Head of CPO Networks at Zapmap, expressed his excitement about Applegreen Electric joining as a payment partner. He highlighted the convenience of high-power charge points located at motorway service stations and emphasized the positive impact this partnership will have on electric car drivers embarking on longer journeys.

Jack O’Brien, Country Manager at Applegreen Electric, also shared his enthusiasm about integrating with Zap-Pay. He acknowledged the importance of Zapmap in helping drivers locate charge points and plan their routes around Applegreen Electric locations. The integration of Applegreen Electric’s network into Zapmap’s cross-network payment solution marks an exciting step forward for the company.

With the addition of Applegreen Electric to the Zap-Pay network, electric vehicle drivers now have even more convenient and easy payment options for charging their vehicles. This collaboration between Applegreen Electric and Zap-Pay is a significant milestone in the journey towards wider EV adoption and a cleaner, greener future.
