BMW teases future electric SUVs with Vision Neue Klasse X.

BMW has unveiled an exciting glimpse into the future of electric SUVs with the introduction of a revolutionary new concept – the Vision Neue Klasse X. This concept builds upon the success of last year’s Vision Neue Klasse saloon concept, expanding the ethos of aesthetics, technology, sustainability, and philosophy into the realm of SUVs.

The Vision Neue Klasse X is set to pave the way for the next generation of BMW’s electric ‘X’-branded SUVs, with the first model scheduled to enter production in 2025. This five-seat SUV is poised to replace the current iX3 and compete with the latest Audi Q6 e-tron in the market.

Constructed on BMW’s innovative Neue Klasse platform, which pays homage to the iconic Neue Klasse cars of the 1960s and 70s, this new electric SUV will serve as the foundation for approximately six BMW models set to launch between 2025 and 2027.

The design philosophy of the upcoming electric SUVs will feature a minimalist approach, signalling a significant advancement in both exterior and interior aesthetics. Standout elements include a reimagined vertical kidney grille layout, expansive window areas, and a panoramic glass roof to bathe the cabin in natural light.

Head of BMW Group Design, Adrian van Hooydonk, stated, “The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X provides a glimpse into the future X models of the Neue Klasse. Our Sport Activity Vehicles will embody the same principles: electric, digital, and sustainable. The X models will retain their bold character with a clean and distinctive interpretation of the BMW light signature.”

The Vision Neue Klasse introduces a central display integrated into the instrument panel, granting both front passengers seamless access to infotainment functions and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Additionally, a panoramic display stretches key information across the windscreen’s width and is complemented by the enhanced BMW 3D head-up display.

Equipped with the latest sixth generation BMW eDrive technology, the concept promises heightened levels of efficiency. Featuring new lithium-ion battery cells and an innovative 800V architecture, this advancement translates to a 30% faster charging speed, enabling a 186-mile (300km) range to be achieved in just 10 minutes.

Further enhancing efficiency, the Vision Neue Klasse incorporates improved aerodynamics, fresh tyre designs, and a specialised brake system for fully electric vehicles, culminating in a potential 25% increase in overall vehicle efficiency.
