New Škoda Epiq EV: 248-Mile Range, Under £25k Price

Škoda is gearing up to electrify its vehicle lineup with an exciting new entry-level crossover that promises to combine practicality, spaciousness, and affordability.
Offering a sneak peek through a design study, the all-electric Škoda Epiq is set to make its full debut in 2025, with an estimated price tag of around €25,000 – roughly £21,400.
This upcoming model is expected to share its mechanical underpinnings with the soon-to-be-released Cupra Raval and Volkswagen ID.2 superminis. It represents the second of six new Škoda battery electric vehicles (BEVs) slated for launch in the near future. The first in line is the Elroq compact SUV, an electric successor to the Karoq, which is scheduled for release later this year alongside the brand’s first Enyaq BEV.
In keeping with Škoda’s naming convention for its BEV SUVs, the Epiq moniker aligns perfectly. The ‘E’ at the beginning signifies a battery-electric Škoda model, while the ‘Q’ at the end identifies it as a member of the brand’s SUV family.
The name ‘Epiq’ is derived from the ancient Greek word “epos”, meaning “word” or “verse”, as well as “tale” or “poem”. Škoda explains that the name conveys positive connotations such as amazing, great, extraordinary, and remarkable.
Despite its compact 4.1m footprint, the Epiq promises ample cabin space and a luggage capacity of up to 490 litres.
While the expected range has been disclosed, information on the powertrain is still under wraps. However, given its parallels with the ID.2, it’s possible that the Epiq might adopt a similar set-up to the ID.2all Concept, featuring a single front motor and a choice between 38 and 56kWh battery packs.
Furthermore, the Epiq will support bidirectional charging, enabling the vehicle to act as a portable energy storage unit that can supply excess electric energy to the customer’s home and other appliances.
The design of the Epiq reflects Škoda’s Modern Solid design language, extending to the interior with an emphasis on durable, practical, and sustainable materials.
Inside, drivers can expect an open storage compartment with a wireless mobile phone charger in the free-floating centre console, along with various Simply Clever compartments providing additional storage solutions.
The design study showcases a two-spoke steering wheel equipped with physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels for convenient control of key functions while driving.
The boot of the Epiq incorporates some of Škoda’s signature Simply Clever details, including bag hooks, cargo elements, fastening hooks, and a hidden underfloor compartment.
Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda Auto, expressed, “The forthcoming Škoda Epiq will offer a great value proposition, with a spacious interior in a compact package. Our customers value choice, and that’s why we are expanding our e-mobility range to cover this popular segment. I believe these initial design teasers show that the Epiq will stand out for its modern design, practical range, and user-friendly features – all at an affordable price point.”
The Škoda Epiq is set to be produced at the Volkswagen Group’s facility in Pamplona, Spain.
